Important Notes Before Performing Software Update

According to Samsung you should prepare the following things before performing the software update. I will also add some useful insights why you should follow this procedures.

  • You should make sure your battery is fully charged before performing the software update. Do not also remove the battery during the software update is in progress. A power failures may cause damaged to your device that might results as we so-called   “soft-bricks”.  If this happens your device may just stuck on Samsung logo or welcome screen and can’t reboot normally.
  • You should back-up your important files, including contacts, emails, messages, photos, videos, apps and other stuff. Like I said while during software update process is interrupted there is a possibility that your data stored from your device internal SD card may lose or deleted when a sudden unexpected failure happens and it forces you to perform a factory.
  • Your device should not been modified or rooted, there is a certain circumstances that a modified and rooted Samsung Galaxy Note 3 may not accept any official software update anymore or it can accept an update but it might harm your device once the update has made.  Learn about the new Samsung KNOX security suite. Most known error that says ‘firmware upgrade encountered an issue, please select recovery mode in kies and try again‘ you should try to avoid that from happening.

If anyone happens to be from those countries and or a subscribers on certain mobile network operators  mentioned above and have had managed to   received this update, just do share to everyone how’s your first impression on the N9005DXUENE4 4.4.2 update on your Galaxy Note 3. 1. Hi,
After the N9005DXUENE4 update, everything’s working ok… until you go to another country & roam on their network.
For example, I was in Malaysia & thus would naturally be roaming on their network to continue receiving SMS. But the battery drain was very fast & the phone was hot. Using CPU Spy, something kept the CPU running & it didn’t go into Deep Sleep mode.
    Anyone else faced this problem?
I’m on the SingTel network using Note 3.

    1. Yes, just back from HK. Had to turn phone off or i would run out of battery just after lunch.
      Have N9005DXUENF1

    2. I faced the same issue during roaming between singapore and malaysia. Sim card belong to Singtel. When roaming at malaysia my note 3 became hot and bettery drain fast. Also, there is a “WIFI Enabled” always appear at the bottom on screem when connected to wifi. Or during roaming with no wifi the message always appeared as something like “not connected to internet”. Went to samsung service center at singapore, replaced the wifi module. The issue still persist. i noticed set the phone as flight mode for few hours the message will eventually disapeared. It temporary solved the battery drain issue when at other country. ofcource flight mode means no roaning

  2. I faced the same battery drain problem as well! It only happened when I’m traveling and the phone is roaming. No difference if I turned on the data roaming or not. Even if I turned off GPS, WIFI, Bluetooth and go into Power Saving mode, the battery still drains fast (100% to 0 within 3 to 4 hrs left to idle). Anyone can help?

  3. I am also having the same problem. Happened to me in Korea and China. Has anyone figured out the problem yet?

I replicated the same settings on my colleague’s phone (which did not have the problem), which is also a Note 3. Same updated OS. However, my battery still drained like crazy and could hardly last 5 hrs….
